My Approach

Weight loss and fitness are incredibly important and enjoyable parts of life. The only problem arises when you realize you don't have much of an idea on how to go about either. That's where I come in to help.

The main barrier to a healthy lifestyle is a lack of information on how you can achieve it. Many think it is too far out of reach for them, that they are too far gone. But there is great news, a healthy life is possible for all people and attaining it can be a lot simpler than you may think.

When I train people, I want them to understand the "Why" behind the things I instruct them to do. As a teenager, weight loss seemed impossible when I heard my favorite foods/drinks were unhealthy, or when I thought being healthy meant running a marathon every week and spending 10+ hours a week in the gym. But when I learned the "why" behind the steps I was taking, the whole process made so much more sense. So when you come to me, I encourage you to ask questions when you don't understand why I am having you do things a certain way. This helps you make your fitness journey, YOUR fitness journey.

I'm excited to work with you, and reach out if you have any questions!

My Story

My story is one of sorrow, a tale of loneliness and despair. But it is also one of redemption,          companionship, and hope. And so it began, A song of Ice and fire... (I warned you I liked it)

We begin this journey in my freshman year of high school. As a 14 year old boy I had been overweight for most of my life. I weighed in at my heaviest when I was 14 at 250 pounds. I was in a deep depression at that point, I was so busy drowning myself in food and videogames, I had given up on nearly everyone who I was close with. It wasn't until my sophomore year of high school when I finally learned that even though I had given up on everyone else, Jesus Christ wanted to know me personally. I came into a relationship with Christ and realized that this life had a purpose, and I wanted to change the way I was living.

"My lifestyle of soda, pizza, and 12 hour videogame sessions is over!" I swore to myself. I started doing workouts in my room, stopped eating candy, and even switched to diet soda. In a matter of months I had lost 40 pounds. But that's when tragedy struck. I gained it back. I had no concept of healthy habits, how to properly workout, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what a calorie was. So I did the only sensible thing I could think of, I joined the baseball team.

Joining the baseball team introduced me to the realm of weightlifting and I learned how to effectively workout. As time went on, I learned more about nutrition and made small changes in my diet which made losing weight easier. I realized I was not gifted at the sport but I loved the level of activity I now lived at. By my junior year at 16 I was down 60 pounds to 190! I learned the key to a healthy lifestyle and effective weight loss is having habits that you can sustain and having an understanding of how things work.

But this is where our story brings us. Today I'm at 180 pounds while having lost over 90 pounds overall and an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. I am able to help others on their own journeys and my experience helps me relate to clients as someone who understands the position they are in and knows the ways that work. If there is one thing you can take away from this, ask questions. I love to help people wherever they are at whether you are just starting or aiming for a certain goal. Hopefully I will see you in the gym soon!
